The organization said in a statement on Friday that it is even more worrisome that the Department of State Services (DSS) has admitted that its operatives “raided” Igboho’s residence and “gunned down” two persons “while the rest were subdued and arrested.”

While responding to the highly publicized re-arrest and repatriation of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, the group noted that many respected national leaders have called for a national dialogue to stave off the prospects of Nigeria becoming a failed state, and urged the Federal Government to key into such initiative, rather than “a seeming predilection to the jackboot strategy” which it said has only yielded more sweat, blood and tears for the nation.
In a statement jointly signed by the leaders of the three pan-Igbo organisations: Professor Anthony Ejiofor, World Igbo Congress; Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, Igbo World Assembly; Sir Ngozi Odumuko, Nzuko Umunna; and Elder Amadiebube Mbama, Joint Action Committee, the groups said they are aware of the worsening security challenges besetting Nigeria and the concerted efforts by both state and non-state actors to arrest the situation.
A shoot-on-sight directive, it noted, is tantamount to an order to extra-judicially exterminate innocent citizens, which it said runs contrary to all accepted conventions and protocols on the rules of engagement.
Speaking during the visit, Utomi noted that Odumakin played a pivotal role as one of the facilitators of the “Handshake Across the Niger” conference, an initiative of Nzuko Umunna, which was jointly hosted by Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Afenifere.
In a statement jointly signed by its Coordinator and Secretary, Ngozi Odumuko and Paschal Mbanefo, the group commended the rancour-free change of leadership as a testament to Pa Adebanjo’s engaging pedigree, widespread acceptance and the confidence reposed in him by the Yoruba Nation.

Utomi spoke at a virtual media parley on Sunday, organised by Nzuko Umunna, Ovation and Njenje Media, ahead of the conference to foster national cohesion and development.
