The Director-General of the council, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, contended that it was time Nigeria used the tool of football and its abiding passion to promote and celebrate Nigeria’s rich culture internationally.
Dr. Sani Aliyu, Director-General, NACA, said the money would be generated through deduction of 0.5 to one per cent of the monthly federation allocation to states.
The statement urged people to take full charge of their health by knowing their HIV/AIDS status and encouraging their partners to avoid risky behaviours that might expose them to the AIDS virus, adding: “Besides the excitement of the Day, people of all age groups, especially the young ones are enjoined to strive to access correct and accurate information about the pandemic.
He added: “This is because of the high cases recorded in Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa States as well as the Federal Capital Territory.
The Federal Capital Territory, Abuja and 12 states of the federation have been identified by the National Agency for the Control of AIDS as HIV endemic areas of the country.
Idoko, the Director General of NACA, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Wednesday that the right and dignity of People Living With HIV/AIDS would be guaranteed by the proposed law
He was represented at the occasion by Dr. Morenike Ukpong, the Coordinator, New HIV Vaccine and Microbicide Advocacy Society.
