These two senior Nigerian citizens are supposed to be dinning together as father and son, or at least friends who have shared some glamorous parts of their lives together. I am angry that the devil is at work. And it is a very wicked devil that has stooped to conquer. I wish that Odili’s wife, Justice Mary Ukaego Odili, nee Nzenwa, of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, and Amaechi’s, Dame Judith Amaechi, nee Nwankwo, and their beloved children should press on their husbands and fathers to achieve this feat for their families. The influence of wives and children on their spouses and fathers cannot be underestimated. They should do something and with sincere prayers, they will succeed.

Buhari is a strong man, no doubt. I do not think that there is any president who has been so much abused and castigated by his compatriots like him. Not even the military administrators who were naturally bereft of humanity to the civilian citizens. It is normal because good men are tempted most.
The last few surveys I have made of Nigerians of different categories in connection to the reelection bid of the President in 2019 have been encouraging.
Among the awardees was the man in charge of Hajj affairs in Nigeria, Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammad, who received the award of the “most responsive CEO, corporate organization in the public sector”. He was also honoured by Manara Satellite TV/Radio station. Those who can sincerely attest to the transformational indices going on in Hajj management in Nigeria will laud these recognitions.
However, some civil society groups and prominent Muslims have asked NAHCON to shift the deadline. Independent Hajj Reporters in a statement by its chairman, Ibrahim Muhammad, said that for Nigeria to maximally utilize her 95, 000 slots for the year, that the deadline was not attainable. Its findings showed that less than a month to the deadline, states pilgrims’ boards were yet to register 40 percent of the allocations given to Nigeria by the Saudi Arabian Government.
The slots were granted at a ministerial meeting between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria in Makkah, Saudi Arabia, where the Memorandum of Understanding for 2018 was presented, an event that kick-starts the processes of Hajj every year.
