Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed has called for an interface between the state government and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency on road maintenance and allied matters to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure better results.

The women folk in Kwara State, under the auspices of the National Council of Women Societies, NCWS, have observed that the achievements of the State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed signpost a need for his second term in office.

According to a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba: “For the records, contrary to the report that Governor Ahmed was in the Villa on August 6, 2014 where he sought audience with President Goodluck Jonathan for a possible return into the PDP, he was in Ilorin attending to serious state matters in pursuit of his administration’s commitment to the deepening of dividends of shared prosperity to all Kwarans

This is just as it set up a committee to develop a housing policy that will take cognisance of the new Ilorin Master Plan and those of other major cities in the state and the need to provide infrastructural facilities in new areas

Speaking at the Unity Rally of the party in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, which was organised to welcome some defectors from the APC on Monday, Akpabio, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, commiserated with the people of Kwara State over the calamity which befell them during the last Sallah celebrations in the home of an APC chieftain, praying for the repose of the souls of the dead

The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Isiaka Gold, who made the announcement on Friday in Ilorin, the state capital, said Governor Ahmed’s decision to reinstate the council was in exercise of the powers conferred him by the Kwara State Law No. 4 of 2006, under which Offa and Oyun Local Government Areas were dissolved in February 2013 following the breakdown of public order and peace in Erin-Ile and Offa in Oyun and Offa Local Government Areas respectively
