IOC President, Jacques Rogge, who retires on Tuesday after 12 years as president, announced the result, which will see Tokyo become the only Asian city to have held the Games more than once
The statement said that Rogge gave the commendation, when the IAAF
council met with the Executive Board of the IOC on Friday in Moscow,
ahead of the start of the IAAF World Championships on Saturday
