A little over a week ago, Professor Wole Soyinka turned the attention of Nigerians from their current harrowing economic existence to one of the tyrannies that religion inflicts on them. Prof. Soyinka was apparently in his elements. For decades, he had fought battles of willful violations of human existence in various guises.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, had earlier written an open letter to the Emir of Ilorin on his position in preventing the Isese festival proposed to be hosted in the ancient city of Ilorin.
The Osun Government has declared Monday as a public holiday.
