The spokesman of the Ekiti State Police Command, DSP Sunday Abutu, confirmed the release of the victims on Friday.

Sources alleged that the incident which occurred at about 7.30pm involved occupants of two vehicles, a commercial car and a mini-truck, waylaid at a bad portion of the road.

ASP Sunday Abutu, the command’s spokesperson, in a statement on Friday in Ado-Ekiti said the eight abductees had regained their freedom and reunited with their families.

Wednesday’s visit started at Iyemero-Ekiti with stops at Odo-Oro, Oke-Ijebu, Ara-Ikole, Ikole-Ekiti and other communities in Ikole Local Government Area of the state and parts of Gbonyin Local Government, where residents regretted that they had suffered neglect by Governor Ayodele Fayose, including living in the dark for years, bad roads and hunger, since Fayemi left the government in 2014.
