So, to keep his job, Lamorde hit on a plan: He asked his media team to call a press conference, declaring that the anti-graft agency was closing in on 10 former governors, with cases of corruption against them, with a view to bringing them to justice. It named the governors: Lucky Igbinedion, Chimaroke Nnamani, Orji Uzor Kalu, Saminu Turaki and Joshua Dariye. Others were Abubakar Audu, Danjuma Goje, Akwe Doma and Jolly Nyame

Rather than allow them gain from the new government and nail senior officials of the Commission, a hurried disclaimer was designed to smear them and paint them as guilty. On Friday, the EFCC bought half-page space on two national daily newspapers, disclaiming Ibekaku and Nzekwe, a pastor, and a known non-compliant detective. The disclaimer announced that the two officers, who are in court over their forced exit from the organisation, are no longer in the service of the Commission

In his keynote address, Ibrahim Lamorde, the Chairman of the EFCC, who was represented by Osita Nwajah, the Deputy Director of Public Affairs, said the essence of the programme was to “take the anti-graft campaign to the workplace and encourage workers to have a buy-in, as the EFCC alone cannot fight and win the war against corruption in Nigeria”

The suspect is also alleged to have impersonated the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde

Lamorde made the disclosure at a workshop on: “Effective Reporting of Economic and Financial Crimes,” in Port Harcourt, Rivers State

Lamorde said: “The programme is specially designed for public and private sector workers in direct response to the mandate of the commission to prevent economic and financial crimes, including corruption

He said: “There is no better level to start from, than the level of the Nigerian child; it is for this reason that the commission established the EFCC secondary school Integrity Club
