“Without anti-corruption agencies like the EFCC, ICPC, I am not sure how the FCT would have been ranked and so we will continue to give the commission support in order to build a vibrant relationship where it won’t be business as usual,” he said
He said: “In 10 years of existence, EFCC has recorded over a thousand convictions

“I expect the media to lend its investigative skills to helping the EFCC fight corruption and not allow itself to be sucked in by the corrupt and become a pawn in their hands, to undermine the Commission
Lamorde disclosed that the EFCC has through the EFCC/NYSC lecture series on anti-corruption at various NYSC orientation camps, Interfaith Committees, Zero tolerance Clubs in tertiary institutions and Integrity Clubs in secondary schools reached out to Nigerians to own and get involved in the fight against corruption in the country
Lamorde, who spoke through Osita Nwajah, Ag. Deputy Director, Public Affairs, at the ongoing Young Aspirants Leadership Fellowship programme at Bolingo Hotel & Towers, Abuja, stated that by being law abiding and shunning all forms of corruption, Nigerian youths would emerge as worthy leaders of tomorrow
He explained that the directive is not intended to be punitive, but to assist in making the society safer for all by checking incidence of corruption and money laundering
While thanking the students for their visit, the EFCC boss decried the level of corruption in the public sector and the involvement of youths in internet fraud, which he says fuels cultism and sexual harassment in the nation’s tertiary institutions
Lamorde made the call on Wednesday when members of the Senior Command Course 35 of the Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State visited the EFCC Academy, Karu, Abuja.
The budget defence, earlier scheduled for November 28, 2012, had to be rescheduled at the instance of the Committee to enable the Chairman of the EFCC, Ibrahim Lamorde, to personally present the proposal to the Committee

Of course, those who have been carried away by the theatrics and drama that the Commission had come to be associated with in the recent past, may find it difficult to appreciate the professionalism of the EFCC under Lamorde
