The Nigerian Navy has impounded five barges laden with about 12.8 million litres of petroleum product suspected to be adulterated diesel, an official has said.

Rear Admiral Mathew Emuekpere, the Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command, Nigerian Navy, said the command seized over 13,803 bags of smuggled rice valued at N22.8 million in the past seven months.
Adedipe said that the illegal refineries destroyed within the Command’s area of operation included those within the maritime domain of Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross River states.
