The police spokesperson in the state, SP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.
Olawale Olokode, the Osun State Police Commissioner, paraded the suspect with the body parts of the victim on Friday in Osogbo.
“The news is fake,’’ the spokesperson for the command, SP Yemisi Opalola, said in a statement on Monday in Osogbo.
A statement by the State Police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, said about 30 hoodlums at 5:30pm on Thursday attacked the residence of one Wakili Olayiwola in Ede, Osun State, shooting sporadically into the house before setting a car ablaze.
Police spokesperson in the state, SP Yemisi Opalola, said the kidnapped persons were rescued at about 9pm on Wednesday.
It, however, added that the incident was not in any way connected with farmers/herders clashes as is being speculated in some quarters.
The state Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, gave the advice on Monday in Osogbo following a 24-hour curfew imposed by the state government on the communities.
