Still “tied up” some four years later, the founder of the church knew he was going to transit into another realm and had to announce his successor. When he broke the news in a hotel in Tulsa, US, where the leaders of the church travelled for a programme of Kenneth Hagin, they broke into prayers that shook the foundation of the hotel so violently that it had to be shut later for investigation.

“Not given to frivolities, he is a serious-minded person and that is almost evident in his visage,” said one of his associates. “Long after he has spoken, you still have so much to chew on; you see, there is a vast difference between knowledge and wisdom, but he is rich in both.”

The presence of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; the Governor-elect of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; and other top dignitaries at the funeral of Pastor Tokunbo Olorunnimbe, Principal Secretary of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, at the City of David Sanctuary, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Victoria Island, Lagos State, indicated the high regard people had for him. But that and the tributes showered at the occasion do not tell the full story of the man whose demise last month has locked many people in shock.
