South African billionaire Motsepe is now the only candidate left, although the possibility remains that this could change on Monday if current CAF president Ahmad overturns his five-year Fifa ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Ahmad was banned by Fifa in November for five years after football’s world governing body found him to have breached several of its ethics codes.

Yahya has been at the helm of the FFIRM since 2011 and was re-elected for a third term last year following Mauritania’s recent success.
