The Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; the Leader of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; and the Presidential Liaison Officer (Senate), Dr. Ita Enang, on Monday met behind closed doors over the need for the National Assembly, especially the Senate, to reconvene to consider some urgent national matters before it.
Enang and Senator Ahmed Lawan, Senate Majority Leader, gave this indication while addressing State House correspondents shortly after a closed-door meeting with Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday in Abuja.
He stated this while speaking with newsmen after a closed- door meeting with Adams Oshiomhole, the APC National Chairman on Tuesday in Abuja.
In a statement issued on his behalf by Alhaji Habu Kaku, Executive Director, Senator Ahmed Lawan Foundation, the Senate Leader said the insinuations spread by an online publication, were misleading and without any iota of truth.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that those attending the event are principal officers of the Assembly including the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki; Senate leader, Ahmad Lawan; while Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara was represented by Hon. Ado Doguwa.
The Senator said in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria in Damaturu that he was particularly happy with the outcome of the party Congress in Yobe.

Lawan said while women and physically challenged candidates were given the forms for free, others had to pay N10,000 for chairmanship and N2,000 for other positions.
The approval followed a motion by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu and 49 others.
Lawan said this while briefing newsmen on the objectives of the “Open NASS’’ initiative designed to increase public access to the operations of the national assembly.
Recall that in November 2017, the Senate set up an Ad-hoc Committee on the Review of Security Infrastructure in Nigeria, which is Chaired by Senator Ahmed Lawan, the Senate Majority Leader.
He spoke at the opening ceremony for the two-day summit on national security organised by the Senate on the spate of killings by herdsmen and other crimes across the country.
A statement by the Chairman of the Senate ad-hoc committee on review of security infrastructure, who is also the Majority Leader, Senator Ahmed Lawan, stated that the postponement was to honour the late former Vice President and to also enable Federal legislators, particularly those from the South East, participate fully in the burial programme of the late elder statement.
The Senate also in its resolution mandated the the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice of Benue State to immediately prosecute those found culpable of the crime.

Lawn said the bill, when passed, would provide some funds from profits and other sources, largely not governmental, for the police force to have funds to improve their operations and make Nigerian roads safer.

The Leader of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, presented the President’s request for approval of the nominees at plenary in Abuja
