Apparently reacting to an alleged plan by former President Olusegun Obasanjo to draft the current president of the African Development Bank (ADB), Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, into the 2023 presidential race, the organization noted that whereas three Yoruba Christians have occupied Aso Rock Villa, no single Yoruba Muslim has held the post of president or vice president since independence.
He said the total value of the bank’s group public sector portfolio during the period was $1.41 billion (N236.88 billion), while investments in the private sector totalled $1.68 billion (N282.24 billion)
It stated that the funds from the AfDB Group would be used to support Micro, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises operating in various sectors of the Nigerian economy.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, the bank said
the grant would support West Africa’s EVD outbreak response plan from August to December
The statement, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, added that another $1 trillion is paid in bribes across the world every year
This notwithstanding, the bank said Nigeria had yet to tap into the
huge potentialities in the region for growth, economic diversification and integration
