Supreme Court Football Club of Abuja on Sunday held home side, Wikki Tourist Feeders, to a goalless draw in one of the Nigeria National League matches decided as the second stanza of the league kicked off.
The Week 8 encounter was somewhat a repeat of what transpired in the last game (Match Day 7) of the league’s first stanza when Wikki picked a point in Abuja.
The pulsating meet inside Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, which drew sizeable fans, failed to produce any goal in either half after both teams made repeated effort to score.
The Apex Boys, as the Supreme Court FC are fondly known, began neatly firing from all cylinders in the first half with superb combination of strikers Festus Augustine and Paul Samson, nicknamed Drogba, coupled with the midfield impact marshaled by Caleb Rugasa.
Several scoring threats came from Wikki Tourist Feeders in the second half, who piled lethal pressure in search of goal, but superior display by goalkeeper Uche Iloh, who rejoined the team from Plateau United in between the league stanzas.
Iloh, who was with the Abuja-based team last season, told newsmen after the game that his best was yet to come as he was already fired up to keep more clean sheet for the rest of the season.
He said: “I think I will give the credit to my teammates for playing as one.
“Everyone in the team showed commitment.
“We need to remain focused and fight on till the end.”
Team Manager, Cletus Nwaobi, assured fans that the flair, which the team was known for. is gradually returning.
