Supporters’ club chairman solicits members’ support

Sam Ikpea, the newly elected National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club has called for the support of the members to move the club forward.
Ikpea told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday in Lagos that he would carry the members along and give them the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the club’s growth.
He urged the members that had not been proactive in the activities of the club to shun politics, retrace their steps and identify with the new board.
NAN reports that Ikpea emerged NFSC national chairman after defeating his opponent, Araromi Muritala, 168-07 in an election held on December 10, at the Media Centre, Teslim Balogun, Stadium, Lagos.
Ikpea said: “I thank God for the successful election, so we are using this opportunity to reach out to all our members to join us so that we can work like a family to achieve significant results.
“We have lots of programmes lined up but we must put our house in order and ensure that everybody is carried along.
“There will be a forum for everyone to express themselves on issues, while we will be ready to accommodate recommendations that will help us to move forward.’’
Ikpea said that it was part of its programmes to come up with a workable strategy that would boost the financial state of the club to make it attain its goals.
According to him, there was need for members to support the local football clubs whenever a competition is going on.
He said: “We are going to seriously work on our sponsorship drive because as a national body, we need to be financially balanced to live up to expectations.’’
NAN reports that Ikpea, a longtime member of the NFSC,
occupied the post of National Secretary from 2000 to 2008 and Secretary-General from 2008 to 2016.
The election had 250 voters from 19 chapters across the nation and was conducted by an Independent Electoral Commission headed by Ademola Bankole.
The election was attended by former Director-General, defunct National Sports Commission, Amos Adamu, immediate past NFF President, Aminu Maigari, Taiwo Ogunjobi, former NFF Secreatry-General and Bolaji Ojo-Oba among others.
