Super Eagles maul Burkina Faso 4-1

The African Champions, Super Eagles, put on a dominant display at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium as they beat fellow AFCON finalists, Burkina Faso, 4-1 in an international friendly on Tuesday.
Brown Ideye netted a brace in the first half before Shola Ameobi and Emmanuel Emenike added two more in the second half.
Saidou Simpore scored the consolation for the visitors.
Burkina Faso named a largely experimental side with very few familiar faces in the side, and it was the Super Eagles who got off on the front foot.
Ameobi made his first start for his country and won a corner right from the off.
The Stallions then had a chance to score on the break, but the cross in the area was over everybody and was headed away from danger.
Then, with just 13 minutes gone, the Super Eagles were ahead.
A defensive mix-up between the Burkina Faso back line and their goalkeeper saw Ideye pounce and score with an easy tap in.
The hosts had another two quick fine chances to score when Ameobi headed over the cross bar before Nosa Igiebor blasted his acrobatic bicycle kick effort into the stands.
The Burkinabe then caught the Nigerian defence unawares with a quick free kick, but no one was able to get on the end of the threatening ball across the area.
The Super Eagles struck again in the 42nd minute when John Ogu played a defence splitting pass to Ideye, who coolly slotted his effort past the goalkeeper for his second of the night.
Right before the break, Armand Traore unleashed a venomous effort at goal after a missed header, but failed to keep his effort down and it flew over the cross bar to send the sides into the break with Nigeria holding a comfortable two goal lead.
Two minutes after the restart, Ogu nearly scored a third.
The midfielder made a brilliant run down the right flank, but couldn’t beat the goalkeeper as he tried to curl it into the back of the net with his weaker right foot.
In the 53rd minute, the hosts finally had their breakthrough.
Obinna and Ideye played a lovely 1-2 into the box before the former laid the ball off for Ameobi, who slid the ball underneath the goalkeeper for his first international goal.
Then, 10 minutes later they added another.
Ogenyi Onazi did well to craft space and fake a shot before laying it off for Emenike, who powered home past the stranded Lare Diarra in goal.
The Super Eagles did not have it all their own way though, as Simpore popped up to tap home a cross, which had somehow evaded everyone in the area.
