The management of Sunshine Stars of Akure has officially unveiled Coach Samson David Unuanel as the new head coach of the team.
The new coach was saddled with the responsibility of winning the league title and Federation Cup for the daring team of Ondo State or at least a “Continental football ticket” next soccer season.
Performing the unveiling ceremony, the President of Sunshine Stars, Akin Akinbobola, charged the new coach to be focused.
According to the ODSFA boss, the choice of Coach Unuanel is to achieve the dreams and desires of Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State and the soccer loving people of the state to see sunshine stars win double gold next soccer season.
Akinbobola said: “We are aware of the expectations and desires of Mr. Governor who has invested so much in football development and also the passion and commitments of the football family in the state.
“All these guided our choice of picking Coach Unuanel as our new head coach.
“We call on everyone in the football business and industry in the state and beyond to help give the new head coach massive support so that he can achieve the set objectives.”
Responding, Unuanel, who expressed his joy, said the hunger and desires to bring honours to Sunshine Stars influenced his decision.
The former Kwara United head coach solicited the support of everyone.
He said: “It is a thing of joy to be here today to see myself being unveiled as the head coach of Sunshine Stars.
“It’s a challenge that I am accepting and hoping to succeed.
“By the special grace of God Almighty and the support of everybody, we shall succeed.”
Kayode Julius, Akin Olowokere, Akin Akinsehinwa and Busuyi Ibukun will assist Coach Samson Unuanel, while Tokunbo Akinyelure is the new assistant team manager.
