Stoke stops Osaze’s Marseille move

Stoke have rejected Marseille’s advances to sign Osaze Odemwingie on-loan until the end of the season.
The French Ligue One side looked to bring the Nigerian forward to the Stade Velodrome on transfer deadline day, but Mark Hughes has rejected their advances.
The veteran forward has struggled for first team opportunities following the arrival of Xherdan Shaqiri and Joselu in the summer, and is unlikely to have his contract extended, which makes the rejection of Marseille manager Michel baffling.
The 34-year-old forward moved to the Midlands side from Cardiff City in 2014 but has been used sparingly by Hughes this season, with just four substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Odemwingie has just six months remaining on his Stoke contract, with an option for a further year, but the club are thought to be relaxed about his future.
