The Delta State Government is set to wage its big stick on students who fraudulently engaged in double registration for the ongoing 2014 Senior School Certificate Examination.
The students, The Eagle Online gathered, have been registered under the oil rich state’s free education policy before they opted to write the examination in private schools.
Irked by the development, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s Commissioner for Education, Prof. Patrick Muoboghare, who swung into an extensive monitoring of the examination across the state on Thursday wondered why the students took such action if not to perpetuate examination malpractices.
While Muoboghare said the action was at variance with the state’s policy of non-admission of students into certificate classes, he maintained that the future does not belong to students who engage in such act.
He said despite all entreaties and warnings by the state government, “some unscrupulous private schools owners” continue to flout the state’s directive and denting the image of the state.
He said: “There is no basis for a candidate whose examination fees had been paid for by government to pay the same fees in a private school for the same examination if not to steal, kill and destroy the state.”
Muoboghare vowed that at the end of the exercise, the state would deal ruthlessly with any offending student and owners of schools found to have registered external students in certificate classes.
The Commissioner however lauded the comportment of students of Girls Model Secondary School at Evwreni in Ughelli axis of the state during the English Language papers, admonishing them to keep up the spirit.
