Southampton has been linked with another Manchester City youngster, Samuel Edozie, with his signing said to be close to completion.
Fellow teenager Romeo Lavia has hit the ground running at St Mary’s, impressing with his displays prior to opening his Saints account with a stunner against Chelsea on Tuesday night.
Goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu is another to have swapped Manchester for Hampshire this summer, with the Irish international also highly-rated whilst at City.
Over the summer Saints have been linked with striker Liam Delap, with the Athletic reporting earlier this summer the club had a £16 million move rebuffed by the Premier League champions. Delap has since linked up with his father and former Saint Rory Delap on loan at Stoke.
Similarly, midfielder James McAtee was also reportedly on Saints’ wish list according to the Athletic, with Sheffield United eventually taking him on loan.
Edozie, an England under-19 international, joined City in 2019 after coming through the ranks at Millwall, with Pep Guardiola’s side reportedly paying a seven-figure fee to lure him north.
The 19-year-old has made just one appearance for City’s first team, starting in their Community Shield defeat to Leicester City at Wembley in 2021.
He has also been named on the bench for Premier League fixtures and Champions League games, although he is yet to add to his sole appearance for City.
Speaking on the potential transfer, Daily Mail reporter Adrian Kajumba tweeted: “Southampton hopeful of signing winger Samuel Edozie from Manchester City before deadline tomorrow. Deal not yet agreed but close.”
