Prominent clubs in South Africa have signified interests in signing some Nigerian players who played for the home based Super Eagles in the just concluded Africa Nations Championship in South Africa.
The clubs, which have been jostling for Nigerian players after the Bafana Bafana lost to Eagles in the last group stage of the competition, now have the opportunity to invite some of them for proper negotiations, according to a source in the Eagles camp.
The Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi, also confirmed this during an interview with journalists that covered the competition.
Some of the South African journalists also showered praises on the players for putting up extraordinary effort in spite of their short preparation and hitches encountered by the team towards the event.
Information has it that clubs like Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, Memolodi Sundowns, Free State and Supersport are at the forefront of the clubs desperate for the Nigerian players’ signatures.
A source said: “During the competition, we have seen some club officials trying to get valuable information on Nigerian players but the camp rules did not allow them to really get close to the players.
“There were strict rules that no player should move out of the camp on personal interest.”
But some of these players are already in contact with the South African clubs through their agents who were in the country to watch the competition.
All that is required is to formalize things and keep the ball rolling after the CHAN event.
