The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi Ajagungbade 111, has cautioned politicians against throwing the country into turmoil as the 2015 elections approach.
Oba Oyewumi, in a statement to mark the end of Ramadan, said it had become imperative to admonish politicians to pursue their ambitions with caution because if the country breaks up they would not have anyone or nation to rule over.
The Soun, who congratulated the muslim community in Nigeria on the completion of the compulsory Ramadan fasting and sallah celebration, said that mutual love and respect among tribes and religions appears the ways to guarantee peace and unity in the country.
In a statement signed by the palace spokesman, Toyin Ajamu, the monarch said: “We thank Almighty Allah for seeing us through the special month of the Islamic calendar.
“The fasting period afforded Muslim Ummah the opportunity to move closer to Allah and it is my prayer that the Almighty will grant us all the attendant blessings of the holy month.
“We all have to sustain the discipline, forgiveness, love, togetherness and sober reflection as exhibited during the Ramadan.”
Oba Oyewumi urged politicians to make the people’s welfare a priority in all their decisions.
He wished Nigerians a happy sallah and joyful celebration.
