The Soun of Ogbomosoland, Oba Oladunni Oyewumi, has called on Nigerians to use the holy month of Ramadan to pray for leaders at all levels.
Oba Oyewumi acknowledged the peaceful co-existence among people of various religious faiths, stressing that the heterogeneous nature of the country is good for development.
While tasking the Muslim ummah to sustain the tenets of Ramadan beyond the holy month, the paramount ruler urged the political class to provide genuine leadership.
In a statement signed by his Private Secretary, Toyin Ajamu, the monarch sued for peace and unity across the country.
He said: “We are grateful to Allah for giving us the opportunity to witness yet another Ramadan.
“This special season should be seen as a period of spiritual re-birth and dedication to the service of Allah and humanity.
“We should exhibit good moral values in our daily pursuits beyond the holy month of Ramadan as exemplified by Prophet Mohammed (SAW).
“Let us use this holy month to embrace love, selflessness and patriotism in our activities.
“May Allah accept our prayers beyond the holy month.”
The monarch wished the Muslim community a rewarding Ramadan.
