Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia has raised alarm over his team, saying they are not ready to compete while hinting on shopping for new players after they exited the gold medal race at the AAG in Congo Brazzaville.
Burkina Faso shocked Nigeria 3-1 on Tuesday to qualify for the final of the football event against Senegal.
Besides now battling hosts Congo for the bronze, Nigeria will also feature at the Africa U23 Cup of Nations in Senegal, where they are drawn in a tough group that has Egypt, Algeria and Mali.
“We are not ready, we have a long way to go if we want to compete,” a disappointed Samson Siasia lamented.
“We made so many mistakes, we did not play well in the defence and we did not create chances upfront. Our defence was sleeping. It was the worse game this team have played.
“We would have to start looking at other players the way things are now going.”
