The Vice President, Kashim Shettima, on Wednesday inaugurated the fifth Board of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
Immediately after the inauguration, the Board members proceeded to their new office in the Hajj House, Abuja.
NAHCON Chairman, Malam Jalal Ahmad Arabi, during the Board’s inaugural meeting, expressed confidence in the capacity of the members.

Arabi, in a statement signed by the Commission’s Assistant Director, Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda Usara, assured the Board members of the same level of cooperation from the staff as enjoyed by him when he assumed duty in acting capacity in the last four months.
He therefore called on NAHCON’s staff to extend similar support to the Board in actualising the Commission’s goals.
In his remarks at the meeting, Dr. Abdullahi Rabi’u Kontagora, the Secretary to the Commission, lauded the intellectual prowess of the new Board members, describing them as a group with personalities blessed with diverse and advanced knowledge as well as experience.
Kontagora described the fifth Board as a new chapter of the Commission with its blend of experts, starting from its Head, Malam Arabi, who he confirmed had tutored him in many administrative skills within a short time of his resumption.
He expressed optimism that their skills and knowledge would be deployed in the service of Allah, the Federal Government of Nigeria as well as commitment to the welfare of Nigerian pilgrims.
Similarly, Board members took turn to acknowledge the Chairman’s fatherly role and hailed his warm reception from the outset of their meeting.
They pledged support to the Chairman in his quest for success.
Members also showed gratitude to Allah for giving them the grace to be called for service, praying for divine guidance in their new national assignment.

3. Prince Anofi Elegushi — Commissioner, Operations
4. Professor Abubakar A. Yagawal — Commissioner, Planning and Research, Information Statistics and Library Services

1. Dr. Muhammad Umaru Ndagi — Board Member, North Central
2. Abba Jato Kala — Board Member, North East
3. Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman — Board Member, North West
