The Local Organising Committee for the Senegal 2015 African Youth Championship cancelled the opening ceremony to reduce expenditures for hosting the 19th edition of the tournament.
But it was reliably learnt that there are adequate plans in place for a rousing closing ceremony at the Stade LS Senghor in Dakar.
However, the LOC’s tight budget took its toll on the turnout as home fans were not aware the tournament was kicking off in their nation’s capital.
The Eagle Online observed since arriving here in Dakar that there are not billboards or any form of advert to create awareness in the capital and its environ.
A few supporters and some Nigerians who are residents in Dakar stormed the 60,000 capacity stadium to cheer their team, the Flying Eagles, to victory.
