An amendment to the constitution to give constitutional role to traditional rulers suffered setback in the Senate on Tuesday.
The bill when passed would enable traditional rulers to give advice to President and Governors.
While 63 voted in favour of the bill, 17 voted against the amendment.
The bill is titled, “A Bill for an Act to Alter the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 to Establish the National and State Councils of Traditional Rulers to advise the President and Governors on Matters Related to Customs, Security and Public Order; and for Related Matters. “
