Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has described the death of Dr. Olusola Abubakar Saraki as a great loss to the country.
Sambo spoke on Sunday in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, during his condolence visit to the Saraki family and Fidau prayer for the late Dr. Saraki.
Sambo, who led the Federal Government delegation to the Fidau prayer, described Saraki as a great politician and teacher, adding that he knew him 20 years before he died.
He said Dr. Saraki will not only be missed by members of his family and Kwara State but the nation in general.
While eulogizing him for the legacies he left behind, Sambo prayed for the repose of the soul of the late politician and Allah to give the children and members of the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Earlier, the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed, expressed his appreciation for the visit and thanked President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, represented by Sambo, for finding time to attend the Fidau prayer.
Responding, son of late Olusola Saraki, Senator Bukola Saraki, also expressed gratitude on behalf of the family for the VP’s visit and kind words eulogizing his late father.
In the Vice President’s entourage were Governors of Niger State, Edo State, Kaduna State, Kogi State, Benue State, and Katsina State as well as the Governor of the Central Bank, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, and business mogul, Alhaji Aliko Dangote.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, senior government functionaries and business tycoons also attended the event.
