Vice President Namadi Sambo has charged the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party at the national, state and local government levels to develop more pragmatic ways that will consolidate the strength of the party across the country.
Sambo gave the advice in Abuja at the grand finale of PDP National Reconciliation and Consolidation Tour undertaken by the National Working Committee of the party.
The party leaders, he opined, must “embark on people-oriented projects and programmes in each tier of government that will not only improve the lives of our people but will create wealth amongst our citizens.
“We must shun all overtures by those who are bent on destroying the party through anti-party activities and be unified in our quest to strengthen a party that has made its mark and improve the lives and well-being of our citizens.”
Vice President Sambo noted that the party’s trade mark remains the various laudable programmes being embarked on at the three tiers of government, coupled with respect for the rule of law, good governance and democratic tenets.
He therefore enjoined members “to carry the trade mark wherever they go as a good product sells itself.”
Sambo also called on the opposition “to join the PDP as it is the only party with clear conscience and manifesto aimed at transforming our dear country for good.”
The vice president commended the National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, for embarking on the tour of the six geopolitical zones in line with the Reconciliation, Reformation and Rebuilding agenda of the party.
Speaking earlier, Tukur said the gathering of the crème of leaders in the party was momentous as it was the first time the NWC of the party embarked on such a tour, which coincided with the celebration of its one year in office.
He called on members to foster unity and reposition the party for the challenges ahead.
Present at the ceremony were the Deputy National Chairman of the Party, Chief Sam Sam Jaja; the Chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum, Chief Godswill Akpabio; Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State, among others.
