Team Nigeria is set to commence camping in Abuja for the 2016 ITF/CATAfrican Junior Championship billed for Pretoria, South Africa in March.
The camping, which will be in Abuja, will feature six of the eight Nigerians that booked their place in the AJC after helping Nigeria to a third successive West and Central Africa Qualifying Championship title, which was also held in the Nigerian capital in January.
The players are Christopher Bulus, Christopher Itodo, Gabriel Friday, Michael Osewa, Angel Mcloed and Marylove Edwards.
According to Nigeria junior tennis head coach, Mohammed Ubale, the quartet of Sani, Musa, Saminu Abubakar, Ahmed Lawal and Toyin Asogba, will join the AJC-bound compatriots in camp to aid their preparations.
Ubale, who arrived alongside McLeod from Tunisia on Monday – where Nigeria had a good outing at the ITF/CAT 18& under Junior Championship – added that Oyinlomo Barakat Quadri, who is in Morocco on scholarship, will be going to the tournament with the ITF team a few days before the arrival of her teammates from Nigeria.
Adetayo Adetunji is the other Nigerian player and she is based in South Africa.
The Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Dr. Alhassan Yakmut, had during the final of the qualifiers promised that the team will be given full support and he called for a minimum of four weeks camping for the players before the tournament.
