Row over Sunday Mba deepens

The controversy surrounding the authentic owner of Sunday Mba, the Super Eagles African Cup of Nations hero, between two Nigerian clubs, Warri Wolves and Rangers International, is far from being over.
On Wednesday, contrary to the verdict of the Nigeria Professional Football League, through its Executive Secretary, Tunji Babalola, that Mba remains a bonafide player of Warri Wolves, the management of Rangers FC unveiled the former junior international alongside 11 others as new players for 2013 season.
Mba, who became an hero after scoring the match winner for Nigeria in the AFCON final, was allocated jersey number 8 at the ceremony, which took place at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
However, in a swift reaction, the spokesman of Warri Wolves, Moses Etu described the unveiling as another scene from Nollywood.
Etu said: “Rangers unveiling our player (Sunday Mba) is another scene from Nollywood.
“The league body has spoken and confirmed him (Mba) as our player.
“Who will now register him to play for them?
“Nigerians will hear more from us very soon.
“We have all the necessary documents and evidences to prove that he is our player.”
Etu further disclosed that the management of Enugu Rangers had written to Warri Wolves requesting for the services of the former Enyimba player.
He added: “It is very simple.
“Do you write to request for the services of your player?”
Rangers’ claim of ownership was hinged on the ground that Mba was loaned to Dolphins from where he moved to Warri Wolves.
