Suspected armed robbers at the weekend allegedly killed a mother of four, Lateefah Oyinloye, at Oyingbo area of Lagos State.
Oyinloye was killed by a gang of robbers numbering about eight on Saturday when they attacked a house at Redemption Way, Oyingbo.
Oyinloye a beverage trader at the Obalende Market, was returning to her home in a taxi at about 1.30am when the gang opened fire on her as they made to escape after robbing a house.
It was gathered that the suspected armed robbers also killed a police corporal, simply identified as Moroof, attached to the Denton Police Division, Ebute Metta.
A resident of the apartment, which was attacked by the suspected armed robbers, said: “About 1:30am on Saturday, armed robbers scaled my fence and entered the house.
“They robbed us all and riddled the entire house with bullets.
“Two of the robbers stood guard outside the compound while six stayed inside and ransacked the house.
“One of the robbers wore a mask while the others didn’t.
“They locked me and my husband inside the toilet and opened fire on the door.
“Luckily, no one in my house was killed.”
Oyinloye’s daughter, Bashirat, said: “My mum sells spirits at Obalende and usually closes late at night.
“She usually comes home in a taxi.
“She was killed in the taxi.
“The matter has been reported to Denton Police Station but her corpse has not been released to us.
“We need to bury her quickly because we are Muslims.
“The policemen asked for N34,000 for embalmment and other expenses but we are negotiating with them to collect N20,000.”
Unconfirmed reports revealed that about five policemen were allegedly killed at Ajah area of the state when a gang of robbers opened fire on their patrol vehicle also.
