Public Complaints Commission seeks FCTA’s partnership

The Public Complaints Commission on Tuesday called for partnership with the Federal Capital Territory Administration to achieve its core mandate of redressing administrative injustice in both public and private institutions in the country.
The Commissioner, Public Complaints Commission, FCT Chapter, Hon. Obunike Ohaegbu, made this known in Abuja during a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for the FCT, Oloye Olajumoke Akinjide.
Ohaegbu noted that the partnership with the FCTA would foster inter-agency cooperation as well as engender good governance in the FCT.
He said: “The Public Complaints Commission, FCT Chapter, is interested in evolving a society where justice, fairness and equity prevail. We are not out to witch-hunt any particular agency of government or individual.
“Our main concern is to bring about good governance that would be responsive and responsible within the FCT. That is the mandate of the Commission within the FCT.”
He explained that the commission was also collaborating with the area councils and traditional rulers in the territory as part of the efforts to deliver on its core mandate.
The PCC commissioner also expressed the desire of the agency to jointly organise a seminar with the FCT Administration on the role of the Commission in a democratic Nigeria.
He commended the Administration for the approval of a land to enable the commission build its permanent site, which he noted would further strengthened between the two organisations.
Akinjide described the PCC as an essential part of democratic institution whose role would foster accountability and transparency.
Akinjide assured the commissioner of the preparedness of the FCT Administration to support the commission to accomplish its mandate.
“The partnership will provide the platform for the two bodies to contribute effectively to the transformation agenda of the Federal Government,” she added.
She advised the commission to build a solid foundation and refocus the organisation with a view to achieving the statutory mandate.
