Policeman who shot Bamidele dismissed

The policeman who shot former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, and five others on Friday at the secretariat of the All Progressives Congress in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State has been dismissed.
This was disclosed on Monday by the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Bello Ahmed.
Ahmed said the decision was to pave the way for his trial in court as soon as he is discharged from the hospital.
The policeman’s gun went off during the welcome rally for the APC’s governorship flag bearer in the state’s July 14, 2018 election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Speaking on a live programme on Channels Television, Ahmed said the politician who brought the policeman to Ekiti State from his Lagos State base has been detained and is being interrogated.
He said the politician will also be arraigned in court as soon as the police conclude investigation into the shooting incident.
He said: “The policeman involved is dismissed already even though he’s nursing some injury.
“At the appropriate time, he will face the law of course.
“Nigerians will be briefed on the outcome of our actions.”
