The Katsina State police command says its men foiled an attack on some villages in Safana, Kurfi and Dutsinma local government areas of the state on Saturday 7th August, 2021 between the hours of 1700hrs and 2000hrs.
According to SP Gambo Issah, the command’s spokesman, the bandits, in their numbers, riding on over 40 motorcycles, raided the villages and rustled over 300 cows, sheep and goats.
But a combined team of policemen and vigilantes were mobilized, who blocked the hoodlums at their exit route into the forest between Dagarawa to Tsaskiya cattle route, engaged them in a fierce gun battle and recovered all the rustled animals.
“Many bandits were suspected to have fled with bullet wounds. Search parties are still combing the area with a view to arresting the fleeing bandits or to recover their dead bodies and their operational weapons,” Issah said.
