The Ondo State Police Command on Tuesday paraded a 20- year-old suspected to be a member of the Boko Haram sect.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the command had confirmed the arrest of a 42-year-old in Isua-Akoko, Akoko South-East Local Government Area on September 24.
Parading the suspect, Gbenga Adeyanju, the state Commissioner of Police, said the suspect, who was arrested in the same area on Sunday, would be handed over to the army for necessary action.
He lauded the commitment and hard work of the personnel in his command, saying these led to the arrest of the suspect.
Adeyanju enjoined the public to always inform the police of any strange activity or movement in their areas.
Speaking with newsmen, the suspect said he was introduced to the sect by friends two years ago, adding that he had killed two people while he was a member.
He said that his colleagues were in the north while some had moved down to the South West Zone.
The suspect said he was in the state with his younger brother, who was also a sect member, to prepare for an operation.
He said he was arrested by personnel of the anti-riot squad of the command who were on patrol while he was looking for a cafeteria.
The Nasarawa State-born suspect said he was sent away from home in Kano State by his father who had expressed concern over his attitude at home.
The suspect, who spoke in Hausa, disclosed that some influential people often provided the weapons used by the group for their terrorist acts.
