The National Auditor of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Adewole Adayanju, has said “the purported South West zonal congress held today (Saturday) in Akure is illegal”.
Adeyanju stated this in a statement he issued on Saturday in Abuja.
He said the congress was an affront to the subsisting order of the Federal High Court, Lagos against the party.
He said: “If it is true that some party members in the South-West went ahead to hold the zonal congress suspended by the order of a Lagos Federal High Court to halt it, it is condemnable.
“It is the height of indiscipline and political rascality for any PDP member to claim ignorance of the order or participate in such futile exercise.”
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, had on Thursday insisted that the Zonal Congress would go ahead despite the court order barring it from holding and confirmation by Adeyanju and the National Secretary of the PDP, Prof. Adewale Oladipo, that it would not hold.
Adeyanjo and Oladipo announced the position of the party at a news conference on Thursday.
