The Peoples Democratic Party has mourned the death of the Chairman of the Punch Newspapers Limited, Gbadebowale Aboderin.
In a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said Aboderin was a great Nigerian, a quintessential administrator and very ingenious entrepreneur, who committed his resource, in may spheres, towards the development of our dear nation.
The statement added: “His legacy in publishing a credible news media of the status of the Punch Newspapers remains an indelible mark in the history and development of journalism in Nigeria.
“Aboderin is widely known for his philanthropy and sports enthusiasm. He played key role in the development of sports in Nigeria including as founder and chairman of the Dolphins Female Basketball Foundation as well as the former chairman of the Lagos, State Basketball Association.
“We are particularly pained that this very resourceful Nigerian left the stage at a time his contributions towards nation building are needed the most
“The PDP commiserates with the family of the Adoderin, the Punch Newspapers and the media industry and prays God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss.”
