The Peoples Democratic Party has condemned the murder of several persons, including international aid workers, by insurgents in Rann, Borno State.
The party placed the blame for the killing on the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government.
The party stated this in a statement issued on Saturday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan.
It called for a full-scale investigation into circumstances surrounding the alleged release of some insurgents by agents of the Federal Government, a development which the party believes escalated the violent attacks in the North East.
The party decried the spate of gruesome killings of people and security operatives, stressing that all the blame should go to the APC-led administration for making a false claim that the insurgents have been wiped out and making foreign agencies to “believe a lie”.
The party further stated that President Buhari should be “compelled” to reveal the truth as to what led to the withdrawal of troops before the abduction of the Dapchi girls in Yobe State.
The statement further stated it is disheartening that the Presidency has made a deal with the terrorists that have made them become terribly emboldened and become a huge threat to the country.
The party lamented: “What has the Federal Government to say to the allegations that it released some arrested terrorists as well as allegations that monies were even paid by government agents to terrorist groups as ransom in controversial swap deals? These developments are being alleged to have emboldened acts of terrorism in the country.”
It decried the fact that since the abduction of the Dapchi girls, the Presidency has not taken any serious step towards catching the culprit, but instead engaged in a wedding ceremony.
It stated: “It is depressing that since the attack in Dapchi and Rann, the Presidency has not taken any concrete steps towards apprehending the attackers and rescue the missing aid workers.
“Instead, our dear President, who has not visited Benue, Yobe, Adamawa, Taraba and other areas that have been under attack, is busy making merry in a wedding ceremony in Kano, while the world mourn the murder of international aids workers providing succor to internally displaced persons in our country.”
It further urged all and sundry to rise up and assist the country since the APC led administration has failed completely, while expressing condolence to the affected families.
