The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Governors from the South West of Nigeria have congratulated their Osun State couterpart, Adegboyega Oyetola on his victory at the party’s primary election last weekend.
The Governors while rising from their meeting promised to make their position known on Monday’s postponement of the party’s National Convention.
Oyetola had defeated other aspirants to retain the party ticket ahead of July 16, 2022 governorship election in the south west State.
Rising from a meeting held in Ondo State Lodge and chaired by Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, the Governors said the victory was well deserved, noting that it was victory for internal democracy and for the people of Osun State.
Speaking on behalf of the governors, Akeredolu said the meeting was called to discuss some matters of interest to the party and to rejoice with Oyetola, who won his primary election last weekend.
He said: “we came out of the APC Southwest Governors forum meeting to discuss our position on a few things. But most importantly, all of us decided to meet to jointly congratulate our colleague, the governor of Osun State who recently won his primary election in a manner we expected. All of us are happy for him and that’s why we all stayed long to discuss, throw banters and share happy moments with him.”
The Forum Chairman said the APC Southwest Governors’ position on the postponement of the national convention of the party, will be made known at an enlarged meeting of the party, which will be held later in the evening.
The meeting was attended by Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Osun State Adegboyega Oyetola and Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
