Only businessmen should be involved in politics-BenTV boss

The Founder of BEN TV, Alistair Soyode, has suggested that only people who have succeeded in business should be involved in Nigerian politics.
Soyode, a former President of Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, Europe, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday in Lagos that this would increase the dividends of democracy to the people.
He said: “My belief is everybody, majority of Nigerians, need a decent lifestyle. Majority of Nigerians can read, watch and say, why can we not have this thing?
“My take is if people have not run a business, really they have no business being in politics, because politics is running a business with human beings who need your assistance or who need you to go and represent them.
“So, I have now told people, stop blaming the members that you elect, because if they have not run a business, sorry they cannot deliver business.
“A manager can identify a quality footballer, but even that quality footballer must have shown his talent somewhere before being elected; before being recruited into a football team.
“The same thing should apply to our politics.’’
He called on Nigerians to be proactive in choosing their representatives comes 2019 and to avoid violence during and after the elections.
