One contract awarded 55 times in NDDC — Acting MD

The Niger Delta Development Commission has revealed how a single contract was awarded for 55 times in the intervention agency.
The Acting Managing Director of the Interim Management of the Commission, Joi Nunieh, made this known while presenting its 2019 Budget before the Senate Committee on NDDC.
The Acting Managing Director added that he is under intense pressure to pay for projects that have not been executed up to 20 per cent by the contractors.
Nunieh requested for the protection of the Senate from the pressure and blackmails mounted on her by the contractors in the Commission.
According to her, a lot of shady behaviour by contractors; duplication of contracts, that is people collecting contracts from the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency and also collecting same from the NDDC; a contract awarded 55 times are some of the issues she is battling.
She said: “I want the Senate to protect me as I have been under pressure and blackmail for not paying for contracts quickly.”
The Acting Managing Director denied media reports that 300 projects were awarded to a serving senator with 120 out of the projects fully paid for.
