Ondo poll: Mimiko wins in 13 LGs, three awaited

Results so far released by the Independent National Electoral Commission in the ongoing counting of votes in the Ondo State gubernatorial election showed that the incumbent, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has won in 13 out of the 15 local government areas so far declared.
Mimiko, flying the flag of the Labour Party, lost in Owo and Okitipupa Local Government Areas, which are strongholds of the Action Congress of Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party.
The candidate of the ACN, Barrister Rotimi Akeredolu, is from Owo.
The results of three local government areas – Ilaje, Ese Odo and Odigbo – are still being expected.
Owing to this, the INEC has suspended the declaration of results till 10am to allow the ballot from the three riverine local government areas arrive at the state capital, Akure, for counting.
