Former Super Eagles’ skipper, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, has commended the national team’s exploits against the Albiceleste of Argentina on Wednesday in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
The former Bolton of England star gave a standing ovation to the African Champions in the SuperSport studios in South Africa as a mark of commendation to the team.
Okocha’s words: “Let me give this team a standing ovation to making us proud against the Argentines.
“They have shown us that they have some qualities in them and they deserve to be given the credits for this feat.
“Even though they lost to Argentina, but they were able to hold their own in the game.
“It wasn’t an easy game for both sides and that is the attribute of a World Cup team.”
The retired star went on to salute the national team handler, Stephen Keshi, for his technical input and approach to the game.
He said: “I must commend the team and all credits should go to Keshi and his technical crew.
“No doubt, the game was largely played from the bench.
“So, I give kudos to them for stretching the Argentines.”
