The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has strongly condemned the Thursday incident in the National Assembly during which the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, was barred from entering the Assembly.
Odigie-Oyegun pointedly declared that the development was an indication that Nigeria is falling apart.
The APC National Chairman spoke at the inauguration of the Presidential Screening Committee of the party in Abuja Thursday.
His words: “As we sit here, crisis is brewing in the nation’s National Assembly.
“The police has virtually taken over the place and tear gas is being used within the chambers of the Assembly.
“This is a further indication of the unbridled and total lawlessness, which is gradually taking over our nation.
“It is clear that the nation is falling apart before our own very eyes. Everything we do from now as a party will be in contradiction from what the PDP is inflicting on the nation today.”
Members of the APC’s presidential screening committee inaugurated on Thursday are: Dr. Igbonnaya Onu (former National Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party), Dr. Tunji Abayomi, Ambassador Baba Ahmed Jida, Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, Senator Bukola Saraki, Tom Matamaki Maiyashi, Prof. Agbonlahor and Ambassador Fatai Balla.
Dr. Onu is the Chairman of the committee.
