Obiano setback to Anambra – Hope Democratic Party

Hope Democratic Party on Thursday said Governor Willie Obiano’s infrastructural development in Anambra was “a total failure and setback to the state”.
The Chairman of the party in the state, Sam Oraegbunam, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Onitsha that Obiano reneged on his promises during the campaigns that heralded his election in 2014.
He, therefore, said that the governor’s second term bid in the gubernatorial poll in the state in November, 2017, would be at a great cost to people of the state.
Oraegnunam said: “Obiano’s key principles during campaign were to continue and complete every project that his predecessor, Peter Obi, started but in that area, he scored below average.
“Virtually every project, including roads, started by his predecessor has been abandoned.
“The Agulu Lake Hotel is now sold off, the shopping mall in Awka and Nnewi have also been abandoned.”
The chairman said that his party’s vision was to restore hope for the people and ensure an improvement in the welfare of citizens while providing needed infrastructure and amenities to accelerate development.
He expressed confidence that the party would win the governorship election “to execute its clearly defined policies, programmes and welfare agenda in the state’’.
But Oliver Okpala, Media aide to Obiano, said that the present administration in the state was running a successful and result-oriented government ever witnessed in the state.
Okpala, who is Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Media, said that in infrastructural development, Obiano’s judicious and prudent management of the state’s resources had reflected his “consummate financial expertise’’.
He said: “The people of Anambra are very happy with the governor.
“This, they will justify with their overwhelming support and vote for him during the November governorship election.”
The aide urged critics of the governor to support him in moving the state forward rather than engaging in unnecessary criticisms detrimental to the development of the state.
