NSCDC inaugurates task force to fish out illegal private guards companies in Borno

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps on Tuesday inugurated a task force to identify illegal private guards companies operating in Borno state.
The Commandant of the Corps, Abdullahi Ibrahim, who disclosed this during the third quarter private guards security stakeholders meeting in Maiduguri, said the aim was to flush out quacks and other forms of criminality in the sector.
Ibrahim said that the decision was sequal to a directive given by the Commandant General of the Corps, Abdullahi Gana, following reported cases of quacks in the sector.
He said the task force comprises of some private guards companies, namely HIM Global, 5’Organ, Techno Crime, Kings Guard and Jafi, among others.
Ibrahim said that the task force had been mandated identify those operating with fake or expired licence, as well as unapproved uniforms.
Ibrahim emphasised the need for the submission of weekly report to strenghten intelligence gathering and sharing.
Usman Danjuma, Borno chairman of the Association of Licenced Private Security Practitioner of Nigeria, called on his colleagues to ensure compliance with stipulated rules.
