Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia have again dropped points at home in the ongoing 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League season, drawing goalless at home against Kano Pillars FC.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Nasarawa United lost to defending champions Plateau United in the season’s opening fixture at the Lafia Township Stadium.
They also drew 3-3 draw with Kwara United at home, yet they have not picked an away point so far.
The “Solid Miners’’ are currently in the 14th position, after gathering 26 points only from 22 matches played so far.
Speaking to newsmen after Sunday’s match, Kabiru Dogo, the Head Coach of Nasarawa United, said he was short of words.
The coach also said he was distressed by his side’s performances this season both at home and away.
He described the result as a huge setback to the team’s season aspirations, disclosing that a new strategy would be introduced to rescue the team from further losses.
Dogo said this was not only necessary but also urgent to prevent a further slip down the competition’s log.
He said: “We are disappointed with the result but we will continue to fight hard to get something out of this season. We will go back and re-strategise and see where we can improve on to change our situation for good.”
On his part, while reacting to his team’s performance, Ibrahim Musa, the Head Coach of Kano Pillars, said he was thrilled his team fought hard to leave Lafia with a point.
He added that they would build on their performance in their remaining matches to fight for the NPFL title and secure a ticket to play on the continent in 2019.
Musa said: “I am pleased with our performance today. Playing against Nasarawa United on their home turf can be very difficult but my boys played to instructions and defended well.
“We also could have won, but we are happy with the point gained.”
